Whilst we were getting all revved up to plump for the version of for its wireless controllers, news arrives that you have to dangle a dongle (try saying that a few times) out the front of your sleek console to use the aforementioned guitar.

The dongle devices bridge the wireless gap between the guitar controller’s technology and the PS3's built-in Bluetooth. Once you have plugged in the device to one of the USB ports you then tap a button to sync up one of your guitar controllers, much alike the Wii-Mote. This approach raises questions about the number of players available in the games multi-player performances, particularly as the new 40GB PS3’s only have two USB ports.

With the hotting up between RockBand and Guitar Hero, both platforms need to be careful not to put a foot wrong. More on the battle of the bands as we get it.
