Valve's Orange Box draws a step closer today, with the developer announcing that the pre-load of its latest release on the content delivery system has now begun. This means gamers can begin downloading titles like 2: Episode Two and now, so that they're ready to play on launch day.

Those who have pre-ordered The Orange Box using Steam already will be delighted to see that the game is already being downloaded on the sly in the background, ready for an October 10th debut when the game is officially available.

As fans of all things will be aware, pre-orderers already have access to Team Fortress 2 via the beta they have exclusive keys to, though this is the first hint we've had that Episode Two and Portal files are now being moved into position.

Steam users can play from the 10th, then, while the game will hit stores (costing 10% more) on October 12th for both the and 360. the version is expected in the coming weeks.
