Kingdom Hearts goes handheld
New PSP, DS and mobile platforms glimpsed
Square Enix have used this year's Tokyo Game Show to lift the lid on a new version of Disney-Square collaboration Kingdom Hearts, with three new offerings set for the DS, PSP and mobile platforms. The games have so far only been confirmed for release in Japan, with Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep set for the PSP.
Tetsuya Nomura will direct this new offering alongside Tai Yasue, and we're told to expect three new keyblade apprentices off in search of the missing keyblade master. On the DS, we'll be getting Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days, with Nomura this time teaming up with Tomohiro Hasegawa to direct. Roxas and Axel will star, with single and multiplayer modes promised.
Kingdom Hearts: Coded is the mobile version, commencing with Jiminy Cricket finding a mysterious message, which kick-starts a new quest for Sora.
The KH series offers a tantalising mix of Disney and Square characters in a rich fantasy world, and has so far shifted over 10 million copies. More on these titles soon.
