Kaz Hirai has told Tokyo Game Show attendees that the PlayStation Store will, from today, be accessible via PCs. This will link-in conveniently with a new functionality allowing the handheld to better communicate with PCs via the USB cable.

Referring to the strength of the PlayStation Store in Japan, Hirai mooted over 30 games, 300 game extras, 100 game archives and 90 movies. Quite how much of this will be accessible on a PSP (potentially connected via a PC) remains to be seen.

Connectivity and flexibility was certainly at he heart of Hirai's discussion, the big boss speaking of the PS3 as 'hub'. PSP users, for example, will be able to connect via Wi-Fi to access content stored on the PS3 in their home, such as and video, as well as compatible games.

Using Remote Play you can also control the PS3 using the PSP, and in the future it'll be possible for PSP owners to connect to the PS3 using it as a server - perhaps controlling different players on the same soccer team, or just spectating a game.

Sadly Hirai didn't demonstrate all of this functionality, but we're hopeful of greater detail on this hyperbole as TGS gets into swing.
