CVG.co.uk today confirms that EA's forthcoming co-op will include an opening sequence featuring footage from the September 11th 2001 World Trade Centre attacks. The inclusion of the controversial and emotive footage makes the first publisher to use the events in game context, though there have of course been a number of TV programs and films using the events and imagery in this manner.

The latest trailer includes exerts from the game's opening sequence, in which smoke can be seen billowing from the towers in the wake of the planes striking them. A press release last year had already confirmed that 9/11 would be included in some way.

The game will see players entering geo-political hot spots in missions inspired by present day headlines, with Army of Two set for release on the and come November 16th.

Given that this is the first game to use 9/11 in any shape or form, it will be interesting to witness the response to EA's move within the public and press.
