Word in this morning informs us that the bundles based around Harmonix's new rhythm-action opus will come with 'wired' guitar controllers, while the packs will come with wireless peripherals.

The reason? Because apparently wireless technology is too expensive to license on Microsoft's machine, pushing the price-tag of the bundles too high. Not that Harmonix, or are offering much news on what that'll be, yet.

"The cost of wireless technology on the side is higher, and to be able to offer those bundles at a price point that would be reasonable for consumers it was necessary," boss Alex Rigopulos told the OXM podcast.

You will of course still be able to buy wireless guitars separately for the 360 version of the game, but this approach is likely to cost more. The 360 pack will include a wire hub aiding cable management, as the drum kit and mic will also be wire-based.

More news on Rock Band's various bundles and extras as we get it.
