Painkiller bound for silver screen
Another game goes big-screen
First-person shooter and all round pretty good action game Painkiller is being turned into a movie by studio Guy Walks Into a Bar, with Austin Film Festival screenwriting competition finalist Ben McCaw on hand to pen the script.
The game saw players assuming the role of the unfortunate Daniel Garner, caught in a war between heaven and hell. The original title was released in 2004 to a not unfavourable response, and we're told McCaw will be looking to capture the game's frenetic action and unusually hellish aesthetics.
We've yet to hear talk of who will direct, or indeed star, in this jolly-sounding action romp, but fingers crossed Uwe Boll's far too busy destroying other reasonable game franchises in cinematic form to turn his ham-fists to this offering.
More soon.
