More entertainment-super-computer-hub-networked-system talk today related to the PlayStation 3, which will apparently be getting a digital TV tuner come early 2008. Or at least, so Warwick Light, and marketing manager for Computer Entertainment New Zealand, tells us.

In New Zealand publication The Press, he speaks of offering TV recording services to users, the move all being part of Sony's desire to be at the heart of all things living room, etc etc.

"We're also hoping next year - about the same time that Freeview launches its terrestrial broadcasting service - to release a digital tuner for the PS3, turning it into a programmable TV recorder," the regional big cheese revealed. Apparently, Digital freeview services are set to launch in NZ come March 2008.

Sony have already begun ramping up their video-on-demand offerings through the PS3 and PSP, and a move to incorporate actual broadcasts has been predicted by some for a while. We're hopeful of more news on this at Leipzig, so we'll keep our noses to the ground until then.
