PS3 price stable in Europe, Asia
'No price changes', says Sony Central
Big brother Sony Corp. states this week that the company presently has no plans afoot to cut the price of the PlayStation 3 console in Europe or indeed Asia, despite the firm's US gaming division Sony Computer Entertainment America recently axing 100 USD off the 60gb system stateside.
While there would be no changes "at this point", president Ryoji Chubachi refused to comment on the future, when chatting to news agency Bloomberg. Chubachi's comments are hardly likely to pour ice on rumours continuing to flicker about a price cut soon; he denied the recent US cut existed mere days before it happened.
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe recently boosted sales in the region via the new Starter Pack, which bundles the console with two controller and two games for the the retail price of 425 GBP / 599 Euro - which still looks pricey versus the 499 USD 60gb PS3, presently.
We're hopeful of further movements from Sony come Leipzig, next month.
