Darksiders coming from THQ
New from Vigil
US publisher THQ have announced a new action-adventure title today, in the shape of Darksiders: Wrath of War, set for release on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2008.
Vigil, the studio developing Darksiders is being headed by Joe Madureira, a comic-book artist who's vision the post-apocolyptic game presumably embodies. An 'open-world' environment is on the cards, and the publisher promise a "deep combat system and a huge arsenal of modern and mythical weapons."
Vigil are also partnering with THQ to deliver a new MMO based on Games Workshop's resilient Warhammer 40,000 license, making Darksiders the second major project on which the firms are partnering.
Madureira, who co-founded Vigil in 2005, has worked on comic books such as X-Men and The Ultimates. He is responsible for the writing of Darksiders, in which players will assume the role of the red horseman of destruction, War, riding steed Ruin.
The game will see War cast down to Earth, stripped of his powers, and hell-bent on a rampage of vengeance.
