Spielberg talks up EA projects
A little light shed on director's EA offerings
Legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg has been talking about his videogaming projects in partnership with EA this week, letting slip to Newsweek a few new details on the games he is helping craft.
EA confirmed at last year's E3 that Spielberg would be helping to create two new games, which have remained largely a mystery up to the present, on the eve of the next E3 show. Spielberg told Newsweek's N'Gai Croal that his first offering alongside EA is a Wii-based 'action-puzzle simulator', which he describes as blending "the creativity of the building-blocks game Jenga with the charm of a Saturday-morning cartoon." We're told the game will see players manipulating 'blocks' using the Wiimote's motion sensing features.
The next title, a decidedly high-def next-gen affair, is apparently codenamed LMNO, and will be an action-adventure title for the PS3 and Xbox 360. A mysterious 'computer-controlled woman' will apparently be aiding the game's lead character, while just how helpful she really is will change as the game progresses.
"The challenge is, can the game have an emotional impact on players while they are actively manipulating the world?" Spielberg told Newsweek, speaking of the pivotal relationship between the protagonist and this virtual beauty.
Further details are scant, but we'll keep you posted.
