Space Siege coming from Gas Powered Games
Spiritual sequel to Dungeon Siege revealed
The first details regarding Gas Powered Games' (Dungeon Siege, Supreme Commander) new RPG project have begun filtering out today, with word reaching us that the 'spiritual successor' to Dungeon Siege will be called Space Siege, and will be delivered in partnership with Sega.
Dungeon Siege was one the more respectable action role-playing titles to follow in the Diablo mould, and Space Siege will continue this lineage on the PC early next year, we're told. The game will see players assuming the role of a cybernetics engineer on a huge spacecraft, the home to some of the last vestiges of mankind.
One interesting twist in the new RPG will be the cybernetic enhancements players will be able to install, aiding in-game but at a cost to the player's 'humanity'. This, in turn, will impact the storyline and gameplay, as different strategies will be required depending upon which enhancements are used.
Multiplayer support for up to four players in co-op mode is mooted, with this mode boasting a full mission structure separate from the singleplayer experience.
A release in Q1 2008 it is.
