Woman arrested over WoW relationship
Could be jailed for attempted child abduction
News.com.au are today reporting the arrest of a 31 year-old Australian woman, Tamara Broome, who established an online relationship with a teenage World of Warcraft player through the game. The 17 year-old was a year younger when they first met each other through Blizzard's popular online title, though she was arrested by US police as she tried to meet the boy and his family.
Apparently, the 17 year-old had tried to fly to Australia previously, to get married to the woman, and that her trip to the States was organised by the teenager's family so they could "could sort it all out" - according to Broome's housemates.
Wedding plans were quickly shelved when Broome arrived in North Carolina, however, when she was arrested by police as she tried to board a train. She is being held on a 2.35 million USD bond, and could spend up to two-years in prison if she is convicted of attempted child abduction.
More on this as we get it.
