Gothic 3 developer Piranha Bytes are hard at work on a brand new project, which won't be a fourth installment in the series but instead an entirely new undertaking.

As before, Piranha will partner with - having resoled a few contractual differences with the publisher. "We aren't speaking about Gothic 4 at all, as it isn't a game that will be released by Piranha Bytes; we are speaking about a new project," site Eurogamer.net quote a Deep Silver representative as stating.

"It will be something that takes advantage of the know-how and knowledge of previous Piranha Bytes games. We expect to have details in roughly a month's time."

The Gothic series has garnered a fair amount of praise, and while a fourth game is in the works the publisher have revealed that another studio will be handling the project while Piranha plot something new. More on this soon, we hope.
