This new figure from Japan means that total sales of the Lite model DS have now passed 22 million globally, the new, improved and miniaturized handheld having launched just over a year ago. Combined with the older, standard DS, overall sales for the format are now comfortably over 40 million mark - quite an achievement given the length of time the console has been out for - and the competition from Sony's rival PSP gizmotool.
The DS Lite sold over 702,000 units in April to top 10m, with the Wii in second place on 287,000 followed by the PSP on 158,000, the PS3 on 71,000 and the PS2 on 67,000. No sign of the Xbox 360 at all. Unsurprisingly. More soon gamepersons.
