Guitar Hero 3 slips out
RedOctane "confirm" number three
Publisher RedOctane have confirmed that Guitar Hero 3 is on the way, and will be developed for the PlayStation 3, PS2, Xbox 360 and Wii. A release in North America is expected in the autumn, though Activision haven't said anything on a release in PAL regions and the like.
RedOctane's own support website for Guitar Hero II gave the game away, a representative answering a question about platforms receiving GHII by confirming which formats number three will arrive on (the page has subsequently been altered with an answer only offering the platforms on which the current release is available).
From what we can gather Guitar Hero 3 will make use of old peripherals where appropriate, and we reckon the PS3 and Wii can look forward to some new 'instruments'. No track list was offered by the technical support rep, unsurprisingly, but more rock 'n' roll goodness will no doubt be on the playlist.
What we can be sure of is that GH3 won't be developed by Harmonix, who are instead helping EA and MTV enter the rhythm-music genre en masse via Rock Band, also due out later this year. Instead, we believe Tony Hawks creators Neversoft are working on GH3.
