Ferrago: What sort of weapons are at soldiers’ disposal?
JR: The player has some common human weapons from the beginning, like pistols and basic rifles. By conquering new bases, your squad can be equipped with better weapons, like machine guns, shotguns and grenades. After first contact with alien life forms you can start to research captured enemies and their weapons. After finishing research, you will be able to use some hybrid and aliens weapons.
Ferrago: Tell us a little more about our foes in UFO.
JR: There are around twenty enemies, both transgenants and aliens, but it’s too soon to tell you more about them. I can say some of them are dangerous in close combat, some of them are sharp shooters and others use mind attack. The smartest enemy is alien himself.
Ferrago: Will the combat ever leave Earth?
JR: No comment on this question.
Ferrago: Can you give any more information on locations generally?
JR: Because we use our in-house made engine capable of generating tactical missions on random in real time, it depends on many factors in the game. The first is the geographical position of a tactical mission. The battles take place in the woods, on the streets, in the bases, in the desert, on top of the hills and in many different places. If you fight on the street, it’s a different street in Europe and a different one in North America.
Other important issues are number and strength of enemies, if there is a shot down UFO or if it’s ‘just another’ scouting mission, and so on.
It means you will fight in an endless number of missions in UFO: Aftermath. I believe this feature will attract players to our game even after first finishing just to find some new and never seen locations, which are hidden all over the world.
Ferrago: What are the system requirements?
JR: Today’s minimum requirements are a Pentium III 500MHz, 128MB RAM and GeForce 2 graphic card with minimum 16MB onboard RAM. The recommended configuration is Pentium III 1GHz, 256MB RAM and GeForce 3 with 64MB onboard RAM.
Ferrago: ..and when can we expect to see UFO: Aftermath in shops?
JR: The estimated time of arrival is the third quarter of 2003 worldwide.
